It’s safe to say this year’s MIPIM 2017 continued to excite and inspire with over 360 guest speakers and over 100 conferences and 100 countries attending the 4-day event. This year’s eagerly anticipated premier real estate event provided the perfect opportunity for the global property industry to come together, following the UK’s changeable start to 2017.
One thing that was particularly apparent over the four days, was the strength of the UK government’s presence at this year’s event, helping to establish to the global investment community that the UK’s doors remain very much open, despite the trigger of Article 50 and recent Brexit uncertainty. Alongside this increase in presence, we saw a positive shift in attitudes towards real estate developments and opportunities away from the capital, despite its preservation as the UK’s central hub, with the British Property Federation stating:
‘The message was loud and clear – London’s global brand will be preserved, but the UK has a plethora of regions and cities where opportunity is rife and the fundamentals that made the UK a great investment in the first place will prevail.’
An influx of opportunities outside London is something we are particularly excited about, as we ourselves welcome the generation of a variety of Leeds based real estate projects to our portfolio, including ICON, and Y Leeds.
David Aspin, CEO of Munroe K and owner of White Rose Office Park said:
“MIPIM 2017 was a breath of fresh air! The warm weather was reflected in the warm spirits of exhibitors and delegates alike. For me, it was a MIPIM where visions aligned and positivity was evident in abundance. It was so good to feel LEEDS and the City Region all pulling in one strong direction, leading the Northern Powerhouse with the sense of leadership given by the Leader of Leeds City council Judith Blake, the Leeds CEO Tom Riordan and Roger Marsh the Chairman of the LEP. One unified force with clear leadership and strong vision and ambitions for one and all. It’s great to be a part; along with all of my fellow development colleagues in this shared vision and ambition. Next year at MIPIM I am sure we will have an even more powerful message and an even greater sense of purpose.”
Given the fantastic atmosphere and reception at this year’s event, it’s safe to say we can’t wait for MIPIM 2018! Don’t forget to click here to register your interest.
