With the practical completion of the 65,000 sq ft leisure extension on White Rose Shopping Centre estimated for just over 2 months time and the recent Leeds City Transport Strategy announcement of a new railway station adjacent to the Park, the area surrounding White Rose Office Park is set for vast economic growth in the coming years.
The White Rose Shopping Centre itself has provided jobs to people from Leeds and its surrounding areas for almost two decades, and the £13.7m leisure extension project is set to create around 350 new full and part-time jobs once completed, with a view to opening the 11 screen Cineworld IMAX cinema in September 2017 and 6 new family friendly restaurants opening July 2017.
Substantial outdoor areas have been incorporated into the extension, with an aim to attract further tourism to the City’s surrounding areas with the hopeful inclusion of seasonal events such as Christmas markets and summer pop-ups. White Rose are also building an outside children’s adventure playground to appeal to their family audience.
The city, which is notoriously the largest financial hub outside of London is expected to grow by 17.1% over the next 10 years according to the UK Powerhouse report, and is now ranked as the fourth most attractive city outside of London for inward investment. It’s no surprise then that Leeds is now the destination of choice for 16% of all new businesses, topping the likes of Manchester and doubling the national average.
The new confirmed transport infrastructure is set to further improve White Rose Office Park’s links to the city centre as well as easing road congestion in the areas surrounding the park.
David Aspin, CEO of Munroe K and owner of the White Rose Office Park said:
“We are delighted by the continued expansion of the White Rose Shopping Centre and all of the local amenities it provides to all colleagues of the White Rose Office Park. The development of the IMAX cinema will provide a fantastic addition to the centre and further cement the area as a destination for work and leisure.”
